What BestPlaces Users Say about Mount Airy

Mount Airy, Maryland is a small town located in Frederick and Carroll counties. It has a population of approximately 9,400 people and is known for its historic downtown area and scenic countryside. Many people are drawn to Mount Airy for its small-town charm and close-knit community. However, like any place, it has its pros and cons. In this report, we will take a look at user reviews from BestPlaces.net to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Mount Airy.

According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, Mount Airy is a great place to live for families and those seeking a quiet, suburban lifestyle. Many reviewers mentioned the strong sense of community and the friendly neighbors. One user, Emily, wrote, "Mount Airy is a wonderful town with a real sense of community. My family and I have lived here for 10 years and we love it. The schools are great, the people are friendly, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy." Another user, John, echoed this sentiment, stating, "I've lived in Mount Airy for over 20 years and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The people here are like family and the community events bring us all together."

However, some reviewers also mentioned the lack of diversity and job opportunities in Mount Airy. One user, Sarah, shared her experience saying, "Mount Airy is a nice town, but it lacks diversity. As a person of color, I often feel out of place here. The job market is also limited, so many people commute to nearby cities for work." Similarly, another user named Mark noted, "Mount Airy is a beautiful town, but it's not very diverse. The job market is also limited and the commute to larger cities can be long and expensive."

Overall, it seems that Mount Airy is a great place to live for those who value a close-knit community and a quiet, suburban lifestyle. However, it may not be the best fit for those seeking diversity and job opportunities. As one user, Samantha, summed it up, "I've lived in Mount Airy for 15 years and I love it. It's a peaceful town with friendly people. The only downside is the lack of diversity, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons."

Love It Here - 6/18/2014
First off yes the cost of living, particularly housing, is expensive. But that is in relation to the rest of the country. Compared to the DC burbs is a bargain. The average home price is high because there are a lot of million dollar homes.

As far as quality of life this is the best place I have ever lived and it's not even close. Having grown up in Montgomery County (DC burb) and having lived "life on the Beltway" it's literally a breath of fresh air up here. People are nice, crime is virtually non-existent (we don't lock our doors)and the area is beautiful. Instead of traffic I drive past rolling farmland. Not too country and for sure not too city Mt Airy has most of what we need. If I need a Home Depot or a shopping mall there are plenty of options 20 minutes away in several directions. But for everyday life, and dinner out occasionally, Mount Airy has all we need.  Read More

I've lived here in Mount Airy for 8 years (I am a life long Maryland resident). Mount Airy is a beautiful, prosperous town with a rural community feel, but proximity to Washington, DC and Baltimore. People are friendly. High cost of living and high taxes are our main problems here. Winters can be long. Schools are okay. I expect alot for my tax dollars! Very little crime in this zip Read More

Mount Airy, Maryland - 9/12/2006
It was once quite bucholic. And there are still many farms, and I can personally attest to nice gardening and hiking in this area. Mt Airy is a hub for the commuters to Washington DC, Baltimore and even Frederick MD. It has gotten progresively more crowded and expensive as the DC and Baltimore commuters push outward from Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery Counties. The living here is still very good. You have the Mountains due West and the Ocean due East. It's temperate. I have been here for 22 years, and am now thinking of downsizing and destressing from the Read More
